I've been told by some that insurance is higher on modulars and other people say you can save $. I like the fact that they may be more sturdy & energy efficient. If thats true why should the ins. cost more ?

Assuming that you raise your home to the proper elevation based on FEMA guidelines, a modular home will save you money on insurance.
Chasm Homes are all built with 2x6 exterior wall studs and 2x10 transverse floor joists (on 16" center)with hurricane straps that literally strap the house to the foundation with long anchor bolts into the cement foundation. This plus hurricane fasteners throughout the building process adds up to a home that is built to withstand 140 mph winds. All our homes are built to standards of Wind Zone I (New Orleans & the Gulf So.)
Hardi board siding, high R value insulation, Low E dual glazed windows and other amenities help save on your utility bills as well.
Bottom line: a modular home will save you money on insurance as well as utilities & upkeep
Others also build to these standards but not all !
I like the fact you use 2x6's - modular builder I talked to in Lakeview used 2x4's.
I'm going to check out your website! Thanks, Jim
You can use any elevation grant money to raise your house - new or old but if you're going with a new house, you can use that money to pay for raising the elevation of your lot before doing the foundation work. Back filling your lot counts toward the elevation.
